2019: a matter of Balance
Finding balance
December 2018 – London, UK
We’re almost done with 2018 and this last month was, for many of us, a period of reflection on the year that passed and preparation for the year to come.
I have chosen to follow the path led by Leo Babauta, inspired by his article Sacred Bow: An Intentional Way to Close Out the Year & Start the New Year, and divide my December into four week. Now that I’ve closed the 2018 chapter by letting go of guilt as I enter the new year, it’s time to look at what I want to focus on in 2019. Gretchen Rubin calls it “a one-word or one-phrase theme for the year”. Leo calls it intention setting.
Set Intentions for the Next Year: What loving and purposeful intentions would you like to set going into the new year? What would you like to create? Who would you like to be? How do you want to practice? This is taking a Big Picture look at the coming year, and setting some general intentions (and holding them without attachment).
– Leo Babauta
Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create
It was quite evident to me, that the year to come had to bring some sort of balance to all the buoyant energy that came with unleashing my multipotential, creative, maker self over the past couple of years.
Furthermore, it rings perfectly with my mission of helping people find this work-life balance, and help companies find it on an employee-hapiness/productivity standpoint.
But what I loved most about it is that Balance is not something you find. It’s something you create. I have control over bringing it into my life. You have control over bring it into yours.
And, even better, your Balance will look different than anyone else’s. Because it’s about who you are and what you want.
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.
-Albert Einstein
Moving means going from an Intention to setting a Plan into motion. And this will be the purpose of the fourth and last instalment of this Sacred Bow series.
What is your Intention for 2019? Your chosen word for the year?
